The journey from primary to post primary school is a challenging and emotional one for students. It’s a time of change where new routines and disciplines are to be learnt. Therefore how students are supported at this time is central to their success and to the development of a friendly and caring atmosphere in the school community. Each first year student will be assigned a mentor to help make this transition to Tarbert Comprehensive as smooth as possible.
A Mentor is a senior cycle student who, with training and support, helps the first year to make the adjustment to life in our school. A Mentor is also a friend, a sympathetic listener, and a role model to whom the first year can turn in times of need. They encourage correct practices and schedules for work and play.
