School Ethos

In Tarbert Comprehensive School, we seek to foster mutual respect as a core value. This includes respect for ourselves and each other, for the school's and each others property, as well as for the people and property of the wider school community.
We work to promote a strong healthy work ethic and a love of learning in a spirit of collegiality and co-operation, so that each one of us, staff member and student alike, may reach his/her full potential.

Recognising that our young people are growing up in a rapidly changing world, we take every opportunity to encourage an approach of self-directed learning so that our students will be enthusiastic and adaptable life-long learners.

Our Comprehensive ethos is one of equality and inclusiveness. We welcome all abilities and aim to nurture all talents. We facilitate our special needs students in every way we can and we look forward to becoming an increasingly multicultural school. We are delighted to say we enjoy the involvement of parents and the wider community in this process.

We aim every day to live up to our school motto -
‘Mens Sana in Corpore Sano' (a healthy mind and a healthy body).

By providing a wide range of activities, both curricular and extra-curricular, we hope to develop the confidence and self-esteem of all our students, so they may become responsible, independent contributors to their own and all our futures.

“ A healthy mind and a healthy body ”
