The Maura Dalton Memorial 5km fun run/walk took place on May 26th 2013 in Athea village. People came from far and wide to participate in the event in memory of Maura. On a beautiful Sunday afternoon over 500 people set off running and walking on the route that was so familiar to Maura herself.
First across the line on the Day was Robert Purcell in 19:48 and first lady across the line was Elaine O’Keeffe in 24mins. First student across the line was Brendan Stack who came in second over all. Congratulations to all who completed the 5km.
The Con Colbert Community centre was abuzz after the event as people enjoyed the refreshments and the time to chat. The day was a great success and a real family event. We would like to thank the Athea Responders, the FAS workers, the Con Colbert Hall committee for their help and support on the day and Rose Enright, Palace Foods and Ger Cahill for their sponsorship.
On the day €3,838 was raised in Maura’s name for the Oncology Units in Limerick and Tralee.
